Russian and Georgian experts met within the framework of the Istanbul Process (process initiated after the war in August 2008) on November 16-17.
Experts proposed humanitarian developments: stimulation of socio-professional contacts, science cooperation, regular consultations, simplification of the visa regime for Georgians and tourism development.
Economic initiatives include use of WTO norms for certification of Georgian agricultural products for the Russian market, promotion of border trade, institutionalized trade and economic relations, opening of offices at economic ministries and agencies, Trade and Industry Chambers and round-table conferences for businessmen.
Political and security initiatives include restoration of inter-parliamentary and expert relations for regional security, crisis situation in the Middle East, North and South Caucasus, combating terrorism and religious extremism and improvement of Sochi-2014 security.
