Russian Ambassador Anvar Azimov said that Russia and the EU were technically ready to lift the visa regime by 2014. The official noted that Moscow wanted to start a dialogue with the EU to realize the idea before late 2013.
Moscow plans to oblige EU air crews to start buying visas to visit Russia on December 1.
Discussions of the step-by-step plan to lift visas started in early November 2011. The list of steps for formation of an agreement on the visa-free regime was passed in Brussels at a Russia-EU summit on December 14-15, 2011.
