Elbrus region needs resort infrastructure developed — President of Kabardino-Balkaria

Arsen Kanokov, the President of Kabardino-Balkaria, assumes that the Elbrus region should offer tourists more comfortable conditions than another North Caucasus resorts, reports Interfax.

"There was a monopoly years ago: Dombay and Elbrus. Now new competition has appeared - Sochi (Krasnaya Polyana), Mamison (North Ossetia), Lago-Naki (Adygeya) - and other resorts will appear. But we are more advanced, because ski resorts have existed here for a long time. The main thing is that people will go to where the service is better. And the new resorts will reach that level only in 5-10 years," said Kanokov. "Our most serious competitor is Sochi, as maximum security is not provided in the Caucasus republics," he added "our goal is to set all in order, and mostly people come here because of Mount Elbrus. He noted that the programme of social and economic development of the North Caucasian district includes 107 billion roubles devoted to projects for Elbrus region development, which could bring cable cars, tracks and infrastructure.
