Over 60 countries have gathered in Tokyo today to discuss new sanctions against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Interfax reports.
Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Genba talked about the need for the international society to stop the 20-month-old crisis that had resulted in 40,000 people killed. He emphasized that the UN Security Council had failed to resolve the conflict.
