The Tbilisi City Court is starting the trial of Georgian former Defense Minister Irakly Okruashvili over negligence, malversation, creation of illegal formations, illegal purchase, storage, carrying, production and realization of weapons and explosives and non-disclosure of crime. The latter crime may result in 6-9 years of prison.
Okruashvili returned to Georgia from France, where he was a political refugee, on November 20. He was detained at the airport and taken to Gldani Prison N8. The minister was sentenced to 11 years of prison by the Georgian court while being in France.
