A Fair Russia leader Sergey Mironov proposed restoration of the “nationality” point in passports. He believes that people can state their nationality voluntarily. Another idea of Mironov is to establish a federal executive structure for national policy to develop related federal constitutional laws.
The party leader proposed involvement of ethnic communities in realizing the national policy. He says that they should have the right to develop bills for inter-ethnic relations for regions and local authorities.
Mironov wants ethnic communities to be responsible for violations of traditions by their members who move to other cities. He emphasized that it was time to deal with enclaves which were developing uncontrollably.
Commenting on ideological importance of the ethnic issue in Russia, Mironov urged developers of the strategy for national policy to avoid the term “nation”. He reminded that creation of the Soviet nation had failed.
