Chechens of the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia will start a protest at the Georgian prosecutor General’s Office in Tbilisi at noon to support Ahmed Chatayev, a man detained at the Lopota Gorge during a special operation for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of weapons.
Chechen activists say that prosecutors violated his status of a refugee and demand his release. Similar protests have recently been held at the Duisi Village in the Pankisi Gorge.
