Dagestan is having an operation from December 1, 2012, to January 15, 2013, to secure preparations and celebration of the New Year, spokeswoman of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in Dagestan Tamila Gazimagomedova said, RIA Dagestan reports.
23 facilities will be used for celebrations. 19 of them are education centers, a train station to send children for the Kremlin tree and three trade centers selling fireworks.
Four security facilities were checked. Their authorities fulfilled 9 out of 12 tasks (71%). Four have been punished.
Special posters were made to agitate people about safety when using fireworks.
Patrols will operate at places where people will be celebrating the New Year from December 29, 2012, to January 10, 2013. Commanders of fire-fighting groups were asked not to leave their areas during that period.
