Putin calls for integration of post-Soviet states

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for the further integration of post-Soviet republics within the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS).

The president was speaking at today's meeting of the CIS heads of state that took place in Ashkhabad.

The assembled leaders agreed to issue a joint declaration that hails multilateral cooperation in various fields. The Russian president underlined that Russia welcomes such an initiative.
