The General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia has
established that the Georgian army under the leadership of Bacho
Akhalaia had acquired used AK-47s and AKS-47s at higher prices, adviser
to the Defense Minister of Georgia, Waco Avaliani said today.
According to Avaliani, several tens of thousands of guns have been
purchased by a company registered offshore for 12 million
euros, News-Georgia reports. He added that each gun was purchased for
290 euros, while its real market price is only about 50 euros.
The case will be transferred to the General Prosecutor's Office.
