Georgia has missed its chance of a Membership Action Plan (MAP) at
the NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels, Georgian President Mikhail
Saakashvili said. "I personally received a promise that, after
democratic parliamentary elections on October 1, we would receive the
MAP," he said.
Saakashvili said that the MAP was not forthcoming due to an attack on members of the
former government launched by the current government. "These arrests
and other events prevented us from achieving what we expected, but
nothing has been entirely lost yet," Saakashvili said.
The president called for collaboration in solving problems.
