Givi Targamadze will not be extradited to Russia under any circumstances,
as the Georgian Constitution prohibits the extradition of its citizens,
prosecutors said today in Georgia. "The investigation against Targamadze
can only take place in the state in case a request is filed, usually such
requests take about three weeks," the press service of the Prosecutor's
Office announced.
The official representative of Russia's Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin,
told RIA Novosti that investigators have evidence proving not only the
financing of the Russian opposition by Targamadze, but his specific role in
the organization of mass riots on Bolotnaya Square. In the near future
the IC will send Georgia a request for assistance in investigating the
organization of riots in Russia.
