Syrian rebels are preparing to seize the capital

The Syrian armed opposition issued a statement today in which it
informed residents of Damascus about an approaching assault on the
city. Opponents of Assad urged residents to prepare first aid points,
shelters and food distribution points.
In addition, the rebels say, they would try to save the historical and
cultural heritage of the Syrian capital from destruction, Interfax
reports.
