The Kazakh National Security Committee has started operating at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Krayniy and Yubileyny aerodromes to check departure documents and transportation, Interfax reports.
Kazcosmos head Talgat Musabayev said on Monday that Kazakhstan and Russia were planning to stop lease of Baikonur by Russia and transfer it to Kazakh administration. Such negotiations were held since mid-November.
Russia rented Baikonur until 2050 for $115 million annually. Russia spends about 5 billion rubles annually for its exploitation.
