Russian representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that US economic pressure and sanctions against Iran were not helping resolve the nuclear program and were violating the international law for their extra-territorial nature.
Churkin emphasized that sanctions were not a solution and proposed a diplomaticway of settling the problem. He stressed that efforts should be made stage-by-stage, basing on mutuality and according to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
