Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani Mehdi has been released, Reuters reports.
He had been arrested for participation in disorders after the presidential elections in September 2009 when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad became the president.
Rafsanjani arrived for questioning from the UK where he had lived the past years. His father is one of the richest people in Iran and was president in 1989-1997.
