EU special representative offers Abkhazia opportunity to develop economic ties

The Special Representative of EU to the South Caucasus, Peter Semnebi, offered the government of Abkhazia the opportunity to develop economic ties, despite political disagreements, RIA Novosti reports, citing Abkhaz Premier Sergey Shamba's spokesperson.

Semnebi visited Abkhazia on Wednesday where he met President Sergey Bagapsh, Premier Shamba and parliamentary speaker Nugzar Ashuba.
At the meeting with Shamba he suggested a project to develop transport communication, in particular, the restoration of the railroad between Russia and Georgia that goes through Abkhazia and an education project to exchange students.

Shamba approved the education project and the development of contacts between the countries’ businessmen. But he gave a negative answer to developing economic contacts with Georgia. He said that there will be no contacts until they solve the issues of refugees and reintegration.
