Moscow mayor approves Cossack patrols

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin says that Cossacks have the right to patrol the streets voluntarily. 57 Cossacks have volunteered so far, RIA Novosti reports.

Moscow has about 15,000 volunteers willing to help the police.

Leonid Makurov, head of the Moscow committee for Cossack affairs, said that about 50 Cossacks will patrol every administrative district in early 2013.
