The State Duma passes new education law

The Russian State Duma approved on Friday a new education law, which will replace the 1992 secondary education law and the 1996 higher education law.

According to the approved document, the Russian language will remain the official language of education, although local languages will be allowed in educational institutions in Russian regions.

The new law also allows school boards to introduce uniforms.
