French foreign minister in Georgia to discuss dialogue with Russia

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner is in Tbilisi to urge Georgia to start a direct dialogue with Russia, News Georgia reports.

He said that Georgia is in a complicated situation since 2008 but dialogue is still possible.

He emphasized that using the word "occupation" to refer to the Russian military in the zones of conflict does not help in solving the problem. Kouchner noted that they are constantly working with Russia on the issue. Recalling the events of August 2008 he noted that President Sarkozy was a mediator in the signing of the cease-fire agreement. The minister said that they prevented the Russian forces from entering Tbilisi.
