The Iranian authorities are ready to admit IAEA experts to Parchin, but only after the disappearance of regional threats to Iran. "If regional threats to Iran cease to exist, then they (the IAEA staff) will be able to visit the Parchin facility," ILNA quotes Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi. The diplomat did not specify which threats he meant. ILNA believes he may have had in mind the threat of an Israeli air strike on Iranian nuclear facilities or the imposition of new sanctions by Western countries.
In late August, the IAEA experts published a report about the activities at the military base at Parchin, involving earthworks. Then IAEA experts suspected Iran of intending to hide the traces of nuclear experiments and called for international experts to be admitted to the site as soon as possible.
