France again discusses Armenian Genocide

The lower chamber of the French parliament is discussing the bill on criminalization of Armenian Genocide. It had been introduced by Valerie Boyer a year ago, radio Svoboda reports.

The bill will add amendments to the law on mass media and determine the legal basis against racism and denial of the Armenian Genocide.

The Constitutional Council had not allowed the bill to be passed. It had both been a part of campaigning of Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande. If the bill were passed, people denying the Armenian Genocide would be fined with €45000 or 1 year of prison.
