The State Constitutional Commission is working on a project to expand powers of the Georgian Parliament. According to information from the Commission, the work on a model of a bicameral Parliament to give the legislators more powers on the issue of government formation is underway, Azeri Trend news agency reported.
To have a legal effect the initiative has to be approved by the President of Georgia.
According to the chairman of the Constitutional Commission Avtandil Demetrashvili, the commission proposes that, in case the Parliament disapproves twice the Prime Minister and the Government suggested by the President, then the legislators will choose the Prime Minister and form the government.
