Russian parliament to consider bills simplifying citizenship-granting

The Russian parliament plans to consider two bills simplifying granting of citizenship.

The first one will simplify the process for Russian children who live abroad with one of the parents having Russian citizenship. Permission of the foreigner parent would be enough for children to be granted Russian citizenship, Speaker of Parliament Sergey Naryshkin said.

The other bill will simplify citizenship for people taking part in the program for re-settlement of compatriots. People involved in the program do not need five years of residence in Russia, income and knowledge of the Russian language to receive citizenship.
