Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to bring generals dismissed by former Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov back to their jobs. The generals commanded during the war in South Ossetia in 2008.
This includes Colonel General Sergey Makarov, Commander of forces of the North Caucasian Military District, Lieutenant General Anatoly Khrulyov, former Commander of the 58th Army. Makarov will be in charge of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, replacing Lieutenant General Andrey Tretyak who will now be the head of the Directorate for Military Education.
