UN speaks out against detention of Iranian oppositionists

The UN Human Rights Working Group has criticized the arrest of Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, APA reports.

The UN has demanded release of Mousavi, his wife Zahra Rahneverd and Karroubi. The three have not been charged yet and remain under arrest without a court’s sentence.

Mousavi and Karroubi were involved in demonstrations during the presidential polls of 2009, protesting against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Both were put under home arrest after a series of post-electoral disorders.
