Khaled Mashaal, Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, said after meeting King Abdallah II of Jordan that the Palestinians and Jordan may form a confederation.
Mashaal and Abdallah II discussed reconciliation of Hamas (controls the Gaza Sector) and Fatah (controls the Western Bank).
Amman controlled the Western Bank of Jordan in 1948-1967. It abandoned territorial claims in 1988.
