Russian president meets acting head of Dagestan

Russian President Vladimir Putin met today with the acting head of the Dagestani Republic, Ramazan Abdulatipov.

The president told the head of the republic that the new Dagestani government should take a well-balanced political course. 

"The first step is to form a capable, active and responsible team," Putin said. 

He admitted that the situation in Dagestan is tense. "The republic is facing serious challenges. The situation is really difficult. There are a lot of unsolved problems," Putin said.
