Azerbaijan will not allow landings at Khojaly Airport

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said that no landings would be allowed at the Khojaly Airport, although Azerbaijan would not use force to prevent them, Interfax reports.

CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said that he did not take Azerbaijan’s attacks on Armenian planes seriously.

Azimov emphasized that the Chicago Convention allowed interception of illegal planes. He called Armenia’s idea of exploiting the airport illegal and an insult to Azerbaijani victims of the Khojaly Massacre. The airport would supplement occupation of Azerbaijani territories and opening of the Lachinsky corridor.

Commenting on the political background of the idea, Azimov reminded that about 30,000 Armenians lived in the Karabakh point and the Lachinskaya road was enough to supply them. At least 70 trucks use it daily.
