The Parliament of Dagestan will be headed by Khizri Shikhsaidov. This
generally expected decision was taken today at a special session of the
20th session of the Parliament of the fifth convocation.
Khizri Shikhsaidov is a State Duma deputy from Dagestan. For this
post he was recommended by the Acting President of Dagestan, Ramazan
Abdulatipov. He was also nominated by the branch of "United Russia" in
Dagestan. The appointment was approved by the deputies.
Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, who was chairman of the National Assembly of
the Republic of Dagestan from March 2010, was relieved of his duties
at his own request, RIA Dagestan reported. The vacant parliamentary
seat was handed to Khizri Shihsaidova, which allowed him to take the
post of the head of the parliament.
