Paruyr Hayrikyan, a candidate in the presidential elections who was delivered to
hospital with a gunshot wound, was discharged today. His health condition
is satisfactory, Interfax reports.
As reported earlier by "Vestnik Kavkaza", Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot in
the shoulder in the center of Yerevan on January 31. There are two
suspects in the attempted assassination of the politician.
Currently, seven candidates are fighting for the presidential office:
the incumbent president, the leader of the ruling Republican Party of
Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan; the leader of the Heritage party Raffi
Hovannisyan; the chairman of the "Freedom" party Grant Bagratyan; the
head of the association "National Self-Determination" Paruyr
Hayrikyan; the former Foreign Minister of the unrecognized
Nagorno-Karabakh state, Arman Melikyan; a specialist in epics, Vardan
Setrakian and the director of "Radio Eye" Andreas Ghukasyan.
The presidential election in Armenia is scheduled for February 18.
