Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has commented on the prospects of joining the EU at a press conference after negotiations with European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule.
Saakashvili urged the parliament to pass constitutional amendments stating that Georgia will become an EU member. Croatia, Lithuania and some other countries have such points in their Constitutions.
The president called for co-existence of Georgia’s ruling party and opposition in order to use the EU summit of Vilnius to speed up the integration process.
