Western democracy is inappropriate for the Middle East and North Africa, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said today.
"The idea of imposing democracy all over the world is quite understandable, but it's unproductive to say that only the Western type of democracy is true democracy," Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Egypt are countries with rich customs and traditions, on which Western principle is impossible to impose.
