Russian law enforcement agencies lost 115 officers to Islamic insurgency in the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan in 2012, RIA Novosti cites the Prosecutor General’s Office as saying on Friday.
Another 228 officers were injured in the attacks, along with more than 200 civilians, the prosecutors said in a report on their website.
The republic saw 295 terrorism-related crimes over the past year, the prosecutors said. Terrorist attacks were on the rise, the report added, without providing official year-on-year statistics.
