Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz has described Iran as one of Turkey’s most important energy suppliers, from which Ankara imported nearly USD 6 billion worth of natural gas last year, Iranian state-run broadcaster Press TV reports on Friday.
In an exclusive interview with the Turkish-language NTV television network on Friday, Yildiz said Turkey imports its oil and natural gas and cannot comply with all sanctions imposed on Iran.
He stressed that Ankara would take into consideration its national interests with regards to anti-Iranian economic sanctions.
On February 7, Yildiz stressed Turkey needs Iranian gas and that Ankara would continue energy cooperation with Tehran.
