Border guards in Sochi to inspect passengers of vessels

The seaport of Sochi will carry out border controls on passenger ships between Russia and Abkhazia, Yuga.ru reports. On July 21st the Sochi shipping line ‘Lugger’ plans to organize such a passage to Gagra.

According to information from the Black Sea-Azov border service, the port has all it needs and the necessary technical equipment for border and customs control over passengers and transport.
They are planning to organize a service between Abkhazia and Krasnodar Territory using the ‘Adler’ terminal. Specialists believe that this could be an alternative route, in addition to the launch of two regular train services in June 2010.

The highway between Russia and Abkhazia carries 28,000 vehicles daily, and 700-800 using the electric train. During the peak of the holiday season, 35,000 people cross the border daily.
