Election silence is launched in Armenia, as the presidential campaign is over, and any kind of campaigning is prohibited on Sunday, News.am reports.
The sixth presidential elections in Armenia will be held on February 18, from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The total number of 1,988 polling stations will be open with about 2.5 million voters. The Election Day is a day off in Armenia.
Seven candidates will compete for the highest post in Armenia, including chairman of ruling Republican Party of Armenia and incumbent Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, opposition Heritage Party chairman, former Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian, opposition Freedom Party chairman, former Armenian PM Hrant Bagratyan, opposition National Self-Determination Party chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, Radio Hai Board chairman, political scientist Andreas Ghukasyan, former Nagorno-Karabakh Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan and an epos expert Vardan Sedrakyan.
