The acting Leader of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov said that he will focus on industrialization and agriculture. Makhachkala has 12% of employees engaged in industry, Kaspiysk has 14%, Izberbash 7%. 7% were in industry before the revolution of the early 20th century. About 80% of Dagestani of industry was destroyed. Abdulatipov noted that he had worked as the head of the medical office of the phosphorus factory in Kizilyurt, had stopped privatization of the Kizilyurt cognac factory for 1.5 billion rubles (it costs at least 12 billion rubles), the official said, Izvestia reports.
Abdulatipov said that trade could increase with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan via the Caspian Sea and later with Georgia. He requested the president to help resolve the problem of the Avaro-Kakhetinskaya road built by Nikolai I. He noted that he needed to travel 180km to move from his house to Tbilisi and 280km to Makhachkala.
Abdulatipov wants development of tourism, which fails because the population is not ready for foreigners. Ethnic tourism would be the best solution, he supposes.
