EU calls upon Saakashvili and Ivanishvili to settle crisis

The European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Štefan Füle, has called on Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili to cooperate in order to settle the political crisis in the country.

The country's leaders should prove that their relations will not stop the process of Georgia's integration into the European Union, the commissioner said.

"They should find some way of communication. They need a basis for cohabitation, which would be difficult even for a Western democracy. That's a great challenge for the country and this process is extremely important," Füle said.
