Georgian parliament fails to find consensus on constitutional amendments

Georgian Speaker of Parliament David Usupashvili, a member of the Georgian Dream coalition, has said today that discussions of constitutional amendments with the United National Movement had been fruitless, Trend reports.

He said that all points had been approved by leader of the parliamentary minority David Bakradze, but no common grounds had been found on demands for release of former members of the old government.

Usupashvili explained that the minority demanded release of 1,500 former functionaries, on condition that they would not work for the government for 5 years. The dialogue will continue, Usupashvili concluded.
