The Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Janez Lenarčič, says the body will monitor the criminal cases launched against Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's associates.
"The monitoring of the judicial system is an effective way to support judicial reform and promote fair trials," Lenarčič said.
The first case the OSCE will monitor is that of former defense minister Bacho Akhalay.
