Tbilisi mayor to remain in office and not pay bail

Today the Tbilisi City Court did not grant a request to the
prosecuting authorities of Georgia, who insisted on the dismissal of
the mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava, a bail of one million laris (about
$600 million) and a ban on leaving Georgia.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, speaking at a briefing, called
the bail of one million laris absurd, noting that the mayor does not
have such money.

"Our government has not made millions ... It's a fantasy of the
current government, whose members have made money in 1990s and cannot
imagine that we do not do that, and because of that they think we are
idiots," News-Georgia quotes Saakashvili as saying.
