Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces, Hero of Russia, has proposed use of Russian Airborne Forces as the rapid reaction units in South Ossetia, Abkhazia and CSTO countries, RIA Novosti reports.
He reminded that there were no airborne units in the North Caucasus.
Russian Army General Sergey Shoygu, Defense Minister, ordered considerations of the Airborne Forces for rapid reaction missions.
