Assad says he won't resign

Syrian president Bashar al-Assad told the Sunday Times that he won't resign, as such a gesture would not settle the conflict. The Syrian president also said that the revolutions in Libya, Egypt and Yemen had not brought peace and stability to these countries.

Assad also said he would never leave Syria. "No patriot would consider leaving his native land. I'm a Syrian patriot," Assad said.
