A criminal case has been initiated against Karachayevsk Mayor Soltan Semyonov, suspected of illegally spending 19.5 million rubles in 2012, RIA Novosti cites Sergey Shuvayev, senior assistant of the head of the regional directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee.
The official was written an order not to leave the city. He may get up to 2 years of prison.
In 2007, according to prosecutors, Semyonov presented false documents on graduating from the Karachay-Cherkessia State Pedagogical University named after Umar Aliyev. He received a diploma at the Justice Academy thereafter.
