Construction of hydro-electric plant in Kabardino-Balkaria may be accelerated

Constructing of a hydro-electric plant in Kabardino-Balkaria may be accelerated due to the terrorist attack on the Baksanskaya hydro-electric plant, Russian Vice-Premier Igor Sechin told journalists after the explosions at the plant.

He said that he had discussed the issue with the President of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov. Sechin added that resolving the issue will depend on the level of financing.

According to ITAR-TASS, one of priorities in developing Kabardino-Balkaria is constructing a chain of hydro-electric plants on mountain rivers. Hydro-electric plants currently under development will be completed in 5-7 years on the Malka River near the village of Sarmakovo and on the rivers Khaznidon and Urukh.
