North Korea slams UN sanctions

The North Korean authorities are criticizing the sanctions adopted by the UN Security Council in February after the country's latest nuclear test.

"The Korean People's Democratic Republic condemns and rejects the resolution adopting sanctions against the country, which was adopted on the initiative of the hostile USA," the statement by the North Korean foreign ministry reads.

China says the sanctions are a possible way of peacefully resolving the conflict.

"China has always been saying that the sanctions are not the aim, but a way out of the situation," the Chinese foreign minister said.
