Israeli Military Intelligence Director Aviv Kochavi said in Herzliya that two thirds of Syria were under control of militants, RIA Novosti reports.
The official expressed preoccupation, because the fall of Syrian President Basha al-Assad’s regime would be followed by growth of radical Islamic groups.
Kochavi clarified that the Golan Heights turned into a puzzle of enclaves fighting each other. The border has increased smuggling activity. 11 out of 17 passes in the demilitarized zone were under control of militants. They are crossed by refugees, weapons and even Jihad elements.
