OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs begin regional visit

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Jacques Faure (France) and Ian Kelly (USA) began a regional visit today, visiting the unrecognised republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Trend news agency cites Armenia Today as saying.

The co-chairs will hold negotiations with the leaders of the breakaway republic, Bako Sahakyan and Karen Mirzoyan.

When asked about the Khojaly airport issue, Ian Kelly said that the co-chairs are interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

French co-chair Jacques Faure stressed that negotiations are under way and it's too early to talk about details. "We are working on this issue and have some suggestions, which we are discussing with the parties," he said.

"After our visit we will publish a joint statement," Russian co-chairman Igor Popov is quoted as saying by the Trend news agency.
