South Ossetian parliament to discuss official language

 

Mira Tskhovrebova, spokeswoman of the South Ossetian parliamentary committee for national policy, culture, science, education, religion, mass media and press, said that the official language of the republic will be discussed on March 28, Res reports.

They will consider problems language teachers face and their solutions. Officials of the Education Ministry and higher education teachers were invited to join the talks.

The constitutional law on the official languages of the republic was adopted in June 2012. The referendum of November 13, 2012, made Russia an official language in South Ossetia. 

A state five-year program for development of the South Ossetian language was passed in April 2012. According to the document, a governmental commission was formed for development of a national language.
